Suzhou attracts potential investors with financial support

Jun 24, 2015

Potential investors will learn about different policies designed by the Suzhou government to attract talent and enterprises at the Suzhou Venture Week for International Elites.

The Suzhou government has spent more than 3 billion yuan (US$490 million) attracting an increasing number of talent and promising enterprises to build Suzhou into an innovation city since 2010.

Part of the money has supported over 1,000 industrial experts who have brought key technology for the development of the emerging industry to the city. Ten thousand experienced workers in designated key industries and fields, such as culture, education, public health and tourism, also benefited from the money.

The Suzhou government has also initiated numerous financial schemes to support talent. All of the candidates should have at least a master’s degree and be paying social insurance and tax within the city.

If the candidate has a doctor’s degree from abroad, the government can offer up to 500,000 yuan. If the candidate is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences or Chinese Academy of Engineering, the government can offer them up to 1 million yuan as a relocation incentive.

For companies that have already received financial support from the government, if the total yearly income exceeds 50 million yuan for each of the past three years, the government can offer an additional 1 million yuan for further support to research.
