New subway transports over 200,000 people on first day

Metro Line 4 went into service on Saturday in Suzhou, carrying more than 200,000 people on the first day. The new subway is expected to east traffic congestions on the ground.

Leqiao, Chayuanchang and Tongli were the busiest stations on Saturday. Tongli, a historical water town, is made accessible with Line 4. A bus company provides shuttle services between the Metro station and the tourist town.

The opening of Line 4 will significantly boost the volume of Metro passengers in Suzhou as indicated on Saturday by a 30 percent increase to 828,224 riders.
