Sep 13, 2017|By Tong Wangyue

Suzhou New District has invested 3.4 billion yuan (US$520 million) to build a cultural precinct showcasing the traditional practice of Suzhou embroidery. The town sits in the Western Ecological Tourism Resort of Zhenhu Community and covers an area of 3.8 square kilometers.

Over 400 Suzhou embroidery workshops and over 40 specialized shops have been established in the town, forming the most complete industry chain of embroidery across China. About 8,000 registered residents of Zhenhu Community produce embroidery products for a living.

Suzhou New District has also built an embroidery display street stretching over 1,700 meters, a Chinese Embroidery Art Museum covering 8,000 square meters, and an exhibition center for Suzhou embroidery covering 21,000 square meters.
