American teacher first organ donor in Jiangsu

A 41-year old American teacher named Amery Scott donated postmortem a kidney and his corneas at the First Hospital Affiliated to Soochow University on Wednesday. Scott was the first foreign organ donor in Jiangsu Province.

Scott came to China from the United States a year ago and worked as an English teacher in Changshu. He suffered a stroke on the night of October 1 and was pronounced brain death two days later.

According to his family, Scott agreed to donate his organs before his death. The kidney and corneas donated by Scott will save a patient’s life and help several other patients recover their sight.
