Kunshan will spend 4 billion yuan (US$631 million) in building, renovating and expanding 33 local schools this year, which will add a total of 34,000 seats.

"This year, we will take a series of measures to improve the standardized construction level of local schools,” said an officer from local education bureau.

The city will implement the sixth phase of smart education project and promote the application of modern information technologies in class teaching.

Besides, the city aims to build 10 percent of state-owned middle and primary schools into the municipal three-star “smart campus.” Educational facilities in 75 percent of the city’s public middle and primary schools will reach the highest provincial standard.
