SIP reports higher energy consumption efficiency than some developed countries

Jun 13, 2018|By Tom Qian

The energy consumption per 10,000 yuan (US$1,563) of gross domestic product in the Suzhou Industrial Park has reached a better level than in some developed countries including the United States, according to an official of the park yesterday.

The average energy consumption level in the park reached 0.244 standard coal tons per 10,000-yuan GDP in 2017, lower than the level in some economically advanced countries, said Chen Xia, a researcher of Economic Development Commission of the Suzhou Industrial Park.

The level was 3.9 percent lower than 2016.

The Suzhou Industrial Park has set up two platforms to monitor the energy consumption efficiency. The park supports key energy-consumption companies to save energy and reduce emission.
BeautyCos International Co Ltd is the largest factory of L'Oreal in Asia Pacific. The company installed solar panels of 25,000 square meters, or the size of more than three standard soccer fields, generating 1.6 million kilowatt hours a year, accounting for 13 percent of its total consumption of 11 million kilowatt hours.

Its factory has also set up facilities to recycle waste water and recover waste heat to reduce impact on environment. Last year, the factory was awarded as one of the first batch of national green factories.
