BMW Group and Great Wall Motors to jointly produce MINI electric vehicles

BMW Group and Great Wall Motors announced a partnership yesterday to establish a venture named Spotlight Automotive Ltd in Zhangjiagang Economic Development Zone in east China’s Jiangsu Province.

The venture, with a registered capital of 1.7 billion yuan (US$255 million), will make MINI brand electric vehicles for the global market.

The new venture is aiming for annual production of 160,000 vehicles and its first vehicle model will be put into production in the first half of 2021.

A brand-new production base will be established in Jiangsu Province to make not only MINIs but also other electric vehicle products of Great Wall Motors.
