The consumer price index (CPI) of urban Suzhou saw the biggest growth this year as the CPI rose 2.8 percent in July, according to the Suzhou Bureau of Statistics and the Suzhou Pricing Bureau.
Prices of foods, cigarettes and alcohols in July rose 1.5 percent from a year earlier. Prices of clothing, housing, daily necessities, transportation and telecommunication, education and entertainment, medical and health care services, and other goods and services increased 4.7, 2.8, 3.6, 4.1, 3.9, 0.9, and 2.9 percent respectively from the same period of last year.
Due to the typhoon, heavy rain and high temperature, food price grew 0.6 percent compared to the month earlier. Fresh vegetable price rose 2.2 percent.
